BOSTON — In the wake of his Olympic silver medal win, the world’s best weightlifter, Dan Martin, is not a man for the long haul.
He’s been known to skip training, train harder, and have trouble keeping up with the pace.
He has a tendency to skip meals and doesn’t like the thought of eating anything else than a burger or a milkshake.
Martin, the son of former Olympic champion Mike Martin, told ABC News he doesn’t plan on changing his training regimen anytime soon.
“I’m definitely not going to be training like [I did in Rio],” Martin said.
“I’m going to just go out there and do my best.”
Martin trained the last time he competed in a competition at the 2012 Beijing Olympics.
For years, Martin has been a part of a group called The Best of Boston Strong, a group of Olympic and World record holders.
But Martin was recently asked if he plans to compete in Boston Strong again in 2018.
“No,” Martin said with a laugh.
But Martin said he was always excited to compete, even when he was in the middle of a slump.
Now, he said, he wants to take his training to the next level.
“I was training to try to do that [at Rio],” he said.
While Martin is not expecting to compete at Boston Strong in 2018, he is still training hard and is hoping to get back in shape for the 2018 season.
As he prepares for his next competition, Martin is focusing on the Olympic Games.
“For me, I’m just focusing on my training and how I can get better, because that’s what I’m here for,” he said with some trepidation.
If Martin can keep his training steady, he should be able to make it to Boston Strong with a silver medal on his side.
Martin said he doesnt plan on skipping any of his training in Boston this year, but he will be looking to improve his lifts.
He will be competing in the worlds top weightlifting championships in Boston, and he said he will try to keep his barbells close to his shoulders.
The Best of Massachusetts Strong has had a long history of success in Boston.
The group was founded in 1999 and has competed in four Olympic Games and two World Championships.
It currently has three medals, two gold, one silver and one bronze.
One of the most popular lifts in Boston is the power clean, which Martin will be relying on as he prepares to compete again.
According to Martin, he will focus on maintaining the top barbell he has for the competition.
When asked if there was anything he wanted to say to his fans before his Olympic gold medal, Martin said, “I dont want to get into the details of what I think about my medals, but I think the best thing I can say is that they’re my medal.
Im really proud of them.”
